Medicine Bow Range and Lake Marie

OK, there's Medicine Bow National Forest, and within the Natl Forest is Medicine Bow Mountains, and the peak of those mountains is called...you guessed it: Medicine Bow Peak. Whew!! (There's also Medicine Bow, the town, but we didn't go there.)

This whole Medicine area is located in south central Wyoming, just west of Laramie, but the mountains extend down into northern Colorado. They're spread over 100 miles. The part of the range that is in Wyoming is called the Snowy Range.

To get to Medicine Bow from Alcova, we took a very, very back road south to Sinclair, over what we think were the Shirley Mountains and to Seminoe Dam and Reservoir. The terrain was colorful, rugged and incredibly beautiful.

On the return from Medicine Bow to Alcova, we took Highway 287/487 from Laramie. The scenery was just as pretty, and a whole lot smoother.
