Highway 133
...the West Elk Loop

I have done but a small portion of the West Elk Loop. Highway 133 between Carbondale and Paonia is a remarkable and stunning drive, but only the beginning of the loop that surrounds the West Elk Wilderness.

Hopefully, I will tour the whole loop within the next few weeks, so check back often.

The towns of Marble and Redstone and the McClure Pass dominate this portion of this scenic and historic byway.

Another scenic feature of this portion of the West Elk Loop is the Crystal River. Mt. Sopris is in the background.

Just north of the Raggeds is this stunning mountain peak. I'm still trying to figure out its name.
