The Yellowstone River winds its way through the canyon.
An observation deck to view the Lower Falls once rested on this cliff. An earthquake toppeled it in recent years, so the newer deck is now 100 feet back. It still offers an awesome view.
A metal staircase leads to an observation point of the Lower Falls. It's a strenuous climb of more than 300 steps.
Almost invisible to the naked eye is an Osprey's nest atop the cliff to the left of the two trees center. One Osprey is in the nest, and another had just taken off. The Yellowstone River is below.
The canyon consists of two major falls: the Upper and the Lower. Both are visible from several observation decks. This is a view of the Lower Falls, which drops 308 feet.
The Upper Falls drops more than 100 feet.
From key observation decks one can get dangerously close to the Upper Falls. Of course, all the viewpoints are very safe, though you seem you're right on top of the water.
