the wandering chick
I spent a week in Tennessee leaf-peeping. The leaves were not at peak yet, but still pretty darn impressive. Being from south Texas where we don't have much of a fall season, I was happy.
My base was in Crossville, in eastern Tennessee, between Nashville and Knoxville, so most of the shots on this page were taken in that area. I did day trips to the north, the south and farther east.
I'm convinced there is no part of Tennessee that is not worth visiting.
...Here and there in Tennessee
A stream in Spring City, south of Crossville on Highway 68
Watts Bar Dam and Lake is located off Highway 68 south of Crossville. It is a hydroelectric dam providing electricity to more than one million people in the Tennessee Valley and is one of nine dams on the Tennessee River. The reservoir created by the dam offers flooding relief to Chattanooga 60 miles south. The lake is an excellent source for all boating activities.

The Obed Wild and Scenic River is well named. It cuts through the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area, vast with seemingly few roads. I, having approached the park from Highway 62 ended up at the Lilly Bluff access point. From there I drove several miles to get out of the park, not having seen any other access points. With that said, according to online research, the park offers endless outdoor wildnerness activities from rafting to rock-climbing. The part I did see was gorgeous, and I have no doubt it's a rugged and scenic area to explore. Just wish I had done better pre-planning so that I could have experienced more of its beauty.
