The Cherohala Skyway is a national scenic byway that runs 43 miles through the Blue Ridge Parkway from Tellico Plains, Tennessee to Robbinsville, North Carolina. It travels through two national forests, the Cherokee and the Nantahala, hence its name.
The elevation of the drive maxes out at 5,390 feet. Many pullouts along the route offer sweepting views of lush moutainsides, and the drive in the autumn months is breath-taking.

Another scenic byway, the Newfound Gap with Clingman's Dome, crosses the TN-NC borders in the Smokies.
