Walker Lake is a five-mile wide natural lake located in Nevada's Great Basin. Its backdrop to the east is the snow-capped Gabbs Valley Range. On the west side of the lake runs the Wassuk Range. The lake travels for 11 miles along the State Highway 95 from where the Walker Lake State Recreation Area can be reached.
Walker Lake is fed from the Walker River to the north, but it has no outlet, so the water level is naturally maintained only by evaporation and by what is absorbed into the earth.
