her water
Every road leads to the water.
Most of these pictures were taken in North Holland where every road, every path seems to end at some body of water, wether it's the North Sea, the Ijsselmeer or a canal crisscrossing the flat green pastures.
I will always remember the day I shot these pictures of the sun setting over the North Sea in Zandvoort.
I had gone to the water's edge, leaving my friend way back where we had dropped our blankets and shoes.
As the sun got closer and closer to the horizon, I quickly looked back through the hoards of people at my friend to see if she was watching the sun setting before us.
As I did, I was instantly thrust into an emotion of down-to-the-core exhilaration as I saw that there was no movement among all the people, that every single person had stopped and stood, respectfully, to face the sun.
That is what I should have taken a picture of, for it way out-did the beauty of the sunset, realizing that mankind still has a sincere appreciation and gratitude for the natural beauty of our universe.
