It seems any place I go, I want more time. And Idaho was no exception.
There is a wonderful scenic drive that leaves Idaho Falls on Highway 26 east toward Swan Valley. Before too many miles, the Snake River makes its way into view and stays by your side for awhile, posing for a perfect picture. In the fall, the harvested wheat fields are a golden yellow all along the way, a sharp contrast to the hazy purple colors of the mountains of the Snake River Range on the left and the Caribou Range on the right.
From Swan Valley, a left will take you on to another scenic route, Highways 31, 33 and 32, the Teton Scenic Byway, up to Ashton. The town of Driggs offers the best view of the west face of the Teton Mountain Range.
And from Ashton, it's just a short drive to the Upper and Lower Mesa Falls, not to be missed.
