So we know Vancouver Island is huge and, like any other island, is divided into regions or sections, some of which have names and some of which don't.
One area that is named, though it's small in comparison to the whole of Vancouver Island, is the Saanich Peninusla. It's located in the southeastern corner of the island and runs roughly from Swartz Bay on the north end to the island's largest city, Victoria, on the south end. One can travel end to end in roughly 30 minutes, and in between are various lakes, parks, farms and quiet countryside.
Ferry terminals abound on the peninsula since its eastern shore faces out to both the Gulf Islands and the San Juan Islands.
Pretty? Scenic? Oh yeah....
(Victoria and Sidney, the largest cities on the peninsula, are on separate photo pages. Please follow their links when you return to the Canada home page.)
