Virginia

The Commonwealth of Virginia stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Appalachian Mountains. Its diversity is evident as one travels east to west, with beachfront towns all along the Chesapeake Bay on one side and the calm, rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the other.

Her history is paramount, having various battlegrounds of both the American Revolution and the Civil War. Sadly, the War on Terrorism left its mark there also when the Pentagon was attacked on September 11, 2001.

One of Virginia's nicknames is the Mother of Presidents since eight U.S. presidents were born there, more than in any other state.
