...The Furka Pass

Nearly 14 miles (22 km) of winding roads, hairpin curves and scenic vistas you can hardly imagine describe Switzerland's Furka Pass. It's one of the most sweeping and thrilling driving passes in the country engulfed by the Swiss Alps.

And if that's not enough, in the 1980s, when we drove it, the Rhône Glacier was much larger than what one might see today. And though small, the Ice Grotto was certainly worth a stop.

The Furka Pass travels northeast and southwest between Gletsch and Realp in the Oberwald region. It's right at 8,000 feet in elevation, and it shouldn't go unnoticed that the 1964 James Bond movie "Goldfinger" was partially filmed on the Furka Pass.
