...Scotland
The Isle of Skye

The official Web site for The Isle of Skye describes the island as "a place where time means nothing, and [where] beneath every footstep lies 500 million years of history."

Those words ring true as you take into view outstanding natural beauty and climb the often grassy hills that seem to never end and are only outdone by the ruggedness of both land- and seascapes.

Pictured here (above left and right) are Kilt Rock, on Skye's Trotternish peninsula. The top picture is the view directly across the A855 from Kilt Rock.

These surrounding shots were taken on one of the most impressive drives, just off the A855 north of Staffin, on a one-lane road heading west to Uig.

Surrounded by rocks of ages and green rolling pastures dotted with sheep, views of the Quiraing and its formidable rock formations were a sight not found anywhere else in Scotland.

Left, the impressive rock forms are typical of the coastal road between Portree and Kilt Rock.

On the most northern tip of Trotternish is a wonderful little hamlet known, on the map anyway, as Aird. These shots following were taken there.

The shot to the left and the two below are of the rock formation known as The Old Man of Storr. It's located in the Trotternish region, north of Portree, and is a major attraction for both tourists and climbers.

Old Man of Storr and the other rock cliffs there are a result of ancient volcanic activity.

This shot was taken while in search of a lighthouse. We searched most of the late afternoon, taking every road we found in the tiny little section near Portnalong, on the most northerly tip of Skye's Minginish region. We finally raised the white flag just as it was getting too dark to search anymore.
This is one of a herd of sheep that hangs out at the Kilt Rock location.
