...San Diego harbor
the wandering chick

It was a wonderful late afternoon on the San Diego Bay visiting a portion of the harbor and watching the boats and ships fade in and out of the fog that was on its way into shore.

The U.S. Coast Guard Station, the Maritime Museum and several piers make up just a small portion of the harbor.

It's a super stroll, passing yachts, ships such as the Star of India and a couple of submarines as well as the smaller private boats anchored nearby. And it's especially impressive to see them all against the setting sun.

Also docked there is the famous Star of India, the world's oldest active sailing ship. It was used, in the late 1800s, to transport emigrants to the New World, a voyage across the high seas that would take four to six months.
