the wandering chick
...Marina
and Moss Landing

Marina was my home base while touring Monterey Bay. Though not as scenic and touristy as some of the other cities, it has a nice state beach and good restaurants. Everything from nail salons to car washes can be found on Marina's Reservation Road, the town's main artery.

Moss Landing sits adjacent to Marina on the north side. It also has some fun restaurants, a marina, a beach and seals...lots of harbor seals.

All along the California coast from Bodega Bay south to Big Sur, I have seen this coastal plant, a variant of ice plant. Of course, those who have seen it in full bloom say this off-season look does not compare. And I'm sure it doesn't, but, even in this state, I find it very appealing and picture-worthy.

I've always said I'd never want to be a bird, because I'm afraid of heights. But, seeing the view they must have along the California coast, I'm willing to try to get over it.
