the wandering chick
and Santa Monica Park

A friend whom I hadn't seen in way too many years gave me the grand tour of Hollywood, Sunset Boulevard, Malibu Beach, the Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Monica Park. We overlooked the San Fernando Valley and tried to look like "one of them" on
Rodeo Drive.

The most memorable was Malibu Beach where I saw live starfish and sea anemones for the first time in my life and Zuma Beach where we collected some 46 sand dollars.

Santa Monica Park at sunset was pure delight.

Sea anemones are living predatory creatures. They tend to stay in one place without moving around, attached to the water floor by a suctioned foot. Sea anemones vary greatly in appearance and size.

Starfish come in myriad colors. Having never seen live ones, I always knew them to be orange.

I loved the palm trees at Santa Monica Park. They grew tall, but not always so straight.
A stop at a Santa Monica park was refreshing and a wonderful way to end the day...watching the sun meet the water.
