At 175,000 square feet and with approximately 250 rooms, it is the largest privately-owned home in the United States. The grounds include a winery, an expansive garden and a hotel.

It 's been opened to the public as a house museum since 1956.

If there has to be a McDonald's near the Biltmore Estate, at least they had the good taste to keep up the appearances of the neighborhood.

This McDonald's, across the street from the entrance gate and ticket office, has included a baby grand piano, a fireplace and other classy decor. And they've kept their windows free of advertising posters.

Their food prices are the same as at other McDonald's.
