...the Granite Dells
Prescott, Arizona

The huge boulders of the Granite Dells are fanciful and almost whimsical formations of granite that rise from the calm blue waters of Watson Lake and Willow Lake. In the early 1900s, the building of a nearby dam created the water reservoirs around the dells. Today, the area is owned by the city of Prescott for recreational purposes.

The Granite Dells are located less than five miles north of Prescott on Highway 89.

Watson Dam Trail
The Flume-Watson Dam Trail is another wonderful, fun hike that takes you through the boulders to a view of the backside of the dam. Though the view itself is not so picturesque, the walk among the rock formations is an easy challenge. It's a 1.5-mile loop accessed from the trailhead on Granite Dells Road.
