... A Chihuly Glass Exhibit
at the Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix

Dale Chihuly is known internationally for his sculpture in glass. His exhibits have thrilled people the world over, and I was lucky enough to be able to attend one that's in Phoenix at the Desert Botanical Garden.

Chilhuly has been studying glass-blowing since graduation in 1965 from the University of Wisconsin. Since then, he has won numerous awards, honorary doctorates and fellowships. He studied the art in the States as well as in Venice, Italy, and currently has works in more than 200 museums worldwide.

His current interest is his Garden Cycle which has allowed him to inch toward his fascination with glasshouses, merging his works into botanical settings. Chihuly has a permanent exhibit called Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle.

NOT a Chihuly glass piece, the Boojum tree is one of my favorite desert plants. It's related to the Ocotillo.

Camelback Mountain offers an appealing backdrop from the botanical garden. A piece of Chihuly art towers next to the cacti.

An occasional jackrabbit would hop into view, bringing cameras to frantic action among the park visitors.
